Maud Haya-Baviera’s new video work, Wish you were here, instils a tantalising dose of escapism at a time when holidaying and long-distance travel remain compromised. She also exposes the conventional tourist gaze and uses Instagram to subvert the limitation of space and time portrayed in the postcards.

She will tease us by revealing one video excerpt a day. Stay tuned!

Artists

Maud HAYA-BAVIERA was born in France and currently lives and works in Sheffield, UK. In 2004, she graduated from a five-year Master degree in Fine Art, at l’Ecole National Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Lyon, France. She works with a variety of media including video, photography, sculpture and installation, employing the strategies of appropriation, performance and participation. She uses literature, cinema and any other material able to convey narratives, which she then playfully subverts to provoke new meanings. She has exhibited her work in a solo capacity and in group shows nationally and internationally and has received a number of awards in relation to international projects and towards the production of new works.
