In the Gallery

Sheffield DocFest’s main exhibition space is in our gallery, where you can experience a range of works that are currently leading the field of experimental documentary making, and that speak to this year’s theme of ReConnection – exploring how both the digital and the physical can connect us.

Free. Find out more and book here.

In Studio I

Festivals can be hectic, and both audiences and artists can need a break. In our studio space, DocFest will present five works that encourage rest and wellbeing – ranging from AI and virtual reality to podcasts and old-fashioned booklets.

Free, no pre-booking required. Find out more here.

In Site Square

Common Good #3: Senses of belonging (Pilot)

Enter a temporary society called ‘Senses of Belonging’, in this location-based audio walk. Over the course of one day, artist Nadja van der Weide will run a series of interventions in Site Square (opposite Site Gallery and The Workstation). Using location-based audio, audience members will join an intimate interactive audio journey to listen, move, dance, watch and follow a series of instructions, exploring in unison the tension of the group versus the individual.

Please note – this is a pilot and the first part of a longer work in development. The experience is best done with strangers. Audience members will be encouraged to give feedback to the artist after taking part in it.

Free. Find out more and book here.

Alternate Realities is made possible due to the generous support of Arts Council England.
