Thursday evening’s Walk and Talk Reading Group has been postponed – the event will now take place later in the year. In the meantime, artists Anna Chrystal Stephens and Glen Stoker are working towards the final residency event – The Knack: A Pub (Style) Quiz taking place in the gallery, on August 26th. Additionally, the pair’s library and info resource centre – The Building Society – is open daily (Tuesdays to Saturdays) through until August 27th. The Building Society is an installation containing over 200 books, magazines and manuals relating to the project residency.

Event information:
For this Reading Group event, Platform artists Glen Stoker and Anna Chrystal Stephens are proposing to take to the land. Participants are invited to bring a short text, in response to a base text chosen by the artists. The chosen text is taken from Sapiens – A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari; Publisher – Vintage, London, 2011. Please contact kirsty.young@sitegallery.org to obtain a copy.

Over the course of a 1-hour circular walk, each participant’s text will be read out in turn, along the route. The texts should be no longer than 2 minutes, when read aloud. There are no parameters to the choice of text – they can be anything; fact or fiction, theory, comedy, lyrics – as long as they relate or react in some way to the given text. At the end of the hour, we will convene in a pub to discuss the chosen texts, and the themes arising from the walk-and-talk.

Please wear sensible footwear and wear/bring clothes for any weather eventuality – bring a brolly!
