Launch Event: Friday 7 October, 12 – 5pm followed by refreshments
Join us for this workshop event marking the launch of On The Road – a pioneering young people’s programme of artist-led outreach activity across Sheffield.

The day will consider questions of value, access and reach. A selection of artists, young people, educators and academics will present inspirational past projects and ideas that consider the opportunities for outreach work today.

Speakers include:
Pat Thomson (Professor of Education and Convenor of The Centre for Research in Arts, Creativity and Literacy, The University of Nottingham)
Gordon Dabinett (Professor for Regional Studies, The University of Sheffield and Author of ‘State of Sheffield – 2016’)
Rory Pilgrim, Artist and Platform alumni
Members of The Society of Explorers.

About On The Road
Travelling around the city in a bespoke mini-van, young people we meet along the way will become ambassadors, curators and participants in a series of new artists’ commissions and events.

Supported by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, On The Road has emerged from Site Gallery’s successful programme for 14-19 year olds – The Society of Explorers. Between 2016 and 2020, On The Road will invest in people and relationships. It will provide countless opportunities in Sheffield as we complete the Building Site capital development project.
