Our New Tricks workshops aimed to demystify the tools and techniques used by artists to set participants on a path of creative exploration.

In this workshop MV Brown introduced participants to 3D scanning, AR, and motion capture using AI. By the end of the workshop you could have created your own animated digital avatars!

You could learn the full workflow for 3D scanning in this hands-on workshop, including demonstrations and examples created by Site Gallery’s youth group, Society of Explorers.

The workshop was suitable for beginners aged 13+

MV Brown

Rooted in performance, Glasgow based MV Brown’s practice uses the human body and new technologies to explore tensions across embodied subjectivity, the body as spectacle and socio-techno constructs of gender and sexuality. Their practice builds upon questions around the (non)performance of daily life & identity in a post-internet context. Drawing on cyberfeminist, glitch-feminist and transhumanist approaches; they investigate avatars, prototypes, ‘false-self’hoods and the fallacy of the ‘IRL’.
