Discover the fascinating history and story of kite making from around the world before being guided through the traditional materials and techniques needed to craft your own Indian fighting kite.
Taking inspiration from the Fake Fans exhibition, we’ll decorate our kites with bold, character-filled designs that celebrate your personal favourites.
For hundreds of years, kites have been central to both childhood and adult games and pursuits. Across the globe, kite flying is synonymous with freedom, the outdoors, imagination, and possibility.
This workshop is suitable for audiences aged 10+
Intergenerational collaboration is encouraged. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Artists
Christopher Jarratt is an artist based in Sheffield, England, creating award winning experiential and engaging artwork and sculpture.
His work draws on play, sustainability, colour theory, iconography and storytelling to create unique experiential artworks and installations. Christopher actively seeks to create opportunities to work positively with communities and audiences, through commissioned work, with collectives and through self funded projects, creating new visual and physical landscapes.
Christopher’s paintings, sculptures and social engagement encourage the exploration of our imagination, how we ‘read’ objects and images, finding new narratives.
Christopher’s work has gained international recognition and has been published and exhibited internationally.
