The Freelands Artist Programme is a five-year visual arts funding programme that aims to champion emerging talent. The initiative is designed to support and grow regional arts ecosystems by fostering long-term relationships and collaborations between emerging artists and arts organisations across the country.

Following our open call for applicants this summer, five Sheffield-based artists have been selected for a two-year paid residency as part of Platform, funded by The Freelands Artist Programme. Each artist will receive over £20,000 worth of investment including a fee, specialist support, professional development and opportunities to exhibit.

‏‏‎We can announce the following artists have been selected as the third cohort to join the programme and will begin a two-year residency in January 2021:

Rachael Colley

Jan Hopkins

Seiko Kinoshita

Lea Torp Nielsen

Anisa Nuh-Ali

‏‏‎Site Gallery and Freelands are committed to helping artists nurture their creativity, enhance their skills, exhibit their work and interact with their local communities. From the outset we have focused on identifying and supporting high-impact activities that will provoke meaningful, positive change within the visual arts sector.

The programme is delivered by Site Gallery in partnership with Bloc Projects, S1 Artspace, Museums Sheffield and Yorkshire Artspace.
