As part of their visit to the FrenchMottershead Shops Project exhibition, which included an introduction from artists Rebecca French and Andrew Mottershead, art and photography students from various schools and colleges in the region were invited to interpret the theme ‘British Shopping Landscapes’, for a related photography competition.
The competition was judged by FrenchMottershead.
Individual feedback, certificated and prizes were awarded to:

3rd: Beth Jenkinson [RCAT]
4th: Ash Hayden Watkins [Doncaster College]
5th: Jacob Hall [RCAT]
“Very atmospheric. You’ve captured a lovely sense of absent commerce – the lights are on but no-one is there. A sense of ‘waiting’ to come alive when people return. The photos look beautiful with the reflections of the lights”.

This Photography Competition is part of: Shopping Landscapes – a series of creative projects explored and produced by young people around the themes of shops and shopping. The work responds to the FrenchMottershead Shops residency and subsequent exhibition at Site Gallery [Nov ‘09 to Feb ‘10].
