Leading Creative Industries specialist Tom Fleming joins Site Gallery as Chair at an exciting moment in our history.

Tom combines a deep understanding of Sheffield, having lived, studied and worked here, with a highly regarded national and international profile.  Our major capital development is on track to allow our renowned exhibitions, residencies and public programmes to expand and breathe in new purpose built spaces that will improve visitors’ experiences here.

We are really looking forward to working with Tom, whose pioneering work in promoting culture and the Creative Industries as a driver for city change, in the UK and internationally, is a perfect fit for Sheffield’s leading international contemporary art gallery.

‘I am excited to be working with Site Gallery at such a vital stage in its development. Site Gallery is so important for the creative life of Sheffield. Huge amounts of energy and expertise are committed toward experimental creative practice, reaching out and engaging new audiences and shaping experiences that, for some, are truly transformational’ said Tom of his appointment. ‘Site Gallery engages and inspires, while helping to mobilise a creative economy of self-starting entrepreneurs; it represents a set of ideas which reflect a progressive sense of the kind of city most of us would like to live and work in – or at least find time to visit.’

Tom is keen to explore the relationship between art and civic development, seeing Site Gallery as central to the Sheffield’s creative, economic and urban development and citizenship.
