In George Sluizer’s film, “The Vanishing”, the final denouement is terrifying. The point at the end of the film when the character “Rex” realises he is buried alive after which the camera comes above ground is extraordinarily disturbing and deeply uncanny.

At Site Gallery this film forms the fulcrum for Dutton & Peacocks exploration of the premonitory experience of photography, film and video where not only do we see resemblances, but also possible futures, narratives and patterns. Dutton & Peacock use strategies of inversion, repetition and archetypes to encourage this sense of recognition.

Steve Dutton and Percy Peacock began collaborating on projects in 1996 having already exhibited individually at a national and international level.Their collaborative work includes exhibitions at the Museum of Installation in London, the Art Gallery of Windsor, Ontario and Optica, Montreal.
