Shopping Landscapes: Rocky Horrors & Freshmans Boutique Shops Projects
Drawing on the themes explored within FrenchMottershead’s Shops residency and resulting exhibition at Site Gallery, young people worked over several weeks with the staff and customers of Freshmans Boutique and Rocky Horrors shops in Sheffield to produce a range of insightful photographs and interviews offering an intimate portrait of these everyday spaces.
Shopping Landscapes: I shop Therefore I Am
Inspired by a strand of the FrenchMottershead Shops Project which explores shopping habits in Romania, young journalists from Cube Magazine carried out their own creative investigation into the habits of Sheffield Shoppers for a feature in the magazine in print.
Using as a starting point, the work of Berlin based artist, Nicolas Moulin [through his first solo exhibition at Site Gallery – Blanklümdermilq, June 12th – 1st August 2009], students from Doncaster and Hatfield Colleges, took part in short photography projects exploring form and function in Brutalist style architecture.
Sight, Sound & Sync Project
In response to Daniel von Sturmer’s solo show: Set Pieces, students from St. Bernard’s School, Rotherham, explored viewer expectation and perception through syncing mismatched sound and video.
